Compact action cameras like the AKASO Brave 7 LE offer an alternative to the GoPro portfolio. Like most action cameras, it has a small body that is very portable and can get mounted on various rigs, mounts, or helmets. Because it has two screens, you can film yourself while seeing yourself on the front-facing one.

Unfortunately, it can only shoot in 4K at 30 frames per second.

Although it offers good image stabilization, shooting at 120 frames per second disables it.

How AKASO Brave 7 LE Camera Compares To Others

Before we go on with the AKASO Brave 7 LE Camera, let’s learn how it compares to its counterparts.

From a performance standpoint, the Akaso line of cameras is one of the best in the market. However, various editions in the line might interest you, like Brave 7 and Brave 8.

In December 2020, the Brave 7 debuted on store shelves, in contrast to the marginally less expensive Akaso Brave 7 LE, which went on sale earlier in 2020.

On the other hand, the Akaso Brave 8, the current range’s flagship, got released in the fall of 2021.

So why pick Brave 7 LE instead of the other two? The money is the key justification. Brave 7 and 8 cost more significantly than the Akaso Brave 7 LE. The Brave 7 LE is the undisputed winner if cost-cutting is your top goal.

If you want the finest possible image quality and stabilization, you can choose Brave 7 or Brave 8. Here is a comparison of the technical specifications of the three cameras.

What You Get With AKASO Brave 7 LE Camera

The box contains a lot of items. There are some valuable parts and less beneficial parts.

The numerous mounts are perhaps the accessories you will utilize the most. The Brave 7 LE features a conventional tripod mount, which I think helps film time lapses or in low light.

The list of all the trinkets in the box is as follows:

  • 1x AKASO Brave 7 LE Action Camera
  • 1x Remote Control/ 2x 1350mAh Battery
  • 1x Waterproof Case/ 1x Battery Charger
  • 1x Bicycle Stand/ 6x Mount
  • 2x 2-sided tape
  • 2x Helmet Mount
  • 1x Bandages
  • 5x Tethers
  • 1 x Protective Backdoor
  • 1x USB Cable
  • 1x Lens Cloth
  • 1x Quick Reference Guide

Why The AKASO Brave 7 LE Camera Stands Out To Me

I like that the Brave 7 LE is quite affordable, pricing at $139.99. Despite not having 4K/60FPS like other action cameras, the model still offers superb video resolution, good stabilization, and a ton of details and brilliant colors at 30 frames per second.

The video and image quality is ideal for the typical user, in my opinion. I also enjoy having access to all the many capabilities and options. There are so many you can experiment with.

I also appreciate that the camera has two batteries. Having two batteries was a lifesaver because I’m a stickler for not letting electronics run on fumes. After all, they always die at the worst possible times.

Although I had trouble understanding the accessories, I believe that other camera enthusiasts would like the waterproof case, numerous mounts, bandages, and tethers.

AKASO Brave 7 LE Camera Features

AKASO Brave 7 LE Action Camera:Overview

Image Stabilization

The most crucial component of any action camera is image stabilization. Naturally, you’ll buy an action camera to record quick-moving events, vlogging, action sports, or other stuff that needs to get recorded on the go.

So how does the Brave 7 LE’s image stabilization function?

The Brave 7 LE’s bulky 6-axis image stabilization gyroscope design stabilizes the image, but I wouldn’t call it a performance that leads the industry.

When using the GoPro HyperSmooth 3.0 technology, the raw footage did not always come out silky smooth, but with some post-production work, I improved the footage’s appearance.

Touch Screen

The Akaso Brave 7 LE has two screens like other action cameras on the market (this is new for Akaso). While the front screen is for selfies, POV shots, etc., the back screen functions as a touch screen and menu navigator.

You can change modes, browse images and movies, or enter “vlog mode” to use the front screen while managing your settings on the fly from the back screen.

Three primary operator buttons control the touch screen, and most mode modifications, such as switching between photo, video, time-lapse, slow motion, etc., can be made with just a few taps.

When you need to shoot in POV or selfie mode, the front screen on this Akaso camera is a beneficial addition because it allows you more visual control.

Camera And Recording Quality

The camera quality and recording capacity are two of my top considerations for any action camera, just after picture stabilization. Does a 4K camera shoot at 30 frames per second for under $150? That’s where the Akaso Brave 7 LE’s price makes it that much more intriguing.

The shot quality is noticeably worse when shooting at 60 frames per second than it is when shooting in 1080 resolution. If getting incredibly clear slow-motion video is what you prefer.

The quality of the photo images is generally relatively decent. The 20-megapixel resolution the Brave 7 LE provides is superior to that of several competing cameras.

The video and photo quality you choose to shoot at is entirely up to you; everything is adjustable.

Nevertheless, I always advise shooting in 4K and at a frame rate of 30 fps to prevent the letdown of pixelated footage.

Timelapse And Burst Settings

The timelapse function enables you to catch and accelerate breathtaking sunrises or the somewhat accurate movement of clouds. Unfortunately, the Brave 7 LE didn’t function well in dimly lit areas.

Another intriguing standard for any action camera is the burst mode. Using the burst feature is essential for taking pictures of objects or people moving. Again, the Brave LE’s burst performance in dim light did not exactly excite me. You have some shooting flexibility and control with a burst frame rate of 3, 7, 15, and 30 shots.

The Battery Compartment And Camera Body

While opening the package, I was surprised by how well-made and substantial it felt. I anticipated a cheap, lightweight plastic unit for an action camera for around $150, but that was not the case.

Akaso did an excellent job of keeping the design of its build consistent with that of other similar cameras available on the market. It’s essential to note that the Brave 7 LE is noticeably larger than the Akaso V-50 camera.

The battery door in this chic small area likewise feels well-designed, but it requires some effort to open.

WIFI Capabilities

With the addition of local Wi-Fi and HDMI capabilities, Akaso has also taken a step forward.

The WIFI-enabled Brave 7 LE offers wireless photo/video sharing via an app (iOS & Android system compatible). It enables you to use the camera for YouTube/Instagram vlogging easily. Thanks to the built-in HDMI port, you may immediately connect it to a television.

Keep in mind that live streaming is not feasible with the Brave 7 LE, but I suppose it is possible with a smartphone.

Sound Performance

The Brave 7 LE is similar to most action cameras due to its incapability to record soundbites of a professional caliber.

One can record decent background noise or a person speaking to you without the case. But even so, I wouldn’t interview someone in a windy environment and count on the audio to sound at least somewhat respectable.

The sound quality is pretty impressive on a quiet city street or inside a room but comparable to other cameras like it.

Waterproof Housing,

The waterproof enclosure with the AKASO Brave 7 LE is adequate but might be better.

In contrast to the actual camera body, the plastic shell feels slightly flimsy.

I eventually discovered that I should only use the plastic casing when completely submerging the camera in water; otherwise, you can hear the case rattle.

I advise avoiding the housing as much as possible regarding day-to-day use. The housing is fine for storage and waterproofing. You will also need to perform this if you want to record any comprehensible audio.

The housing rating is 131FT/40M, making it a good choice for scuba diving or other aquatic sports.

AKASO Brave 7 LE Camera Performance

On Amazon, over 2,971 reviews gave this camera a rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars.

I researched the internet, trying to find all the reviews I could that didn’t look fake, and I found the two below that were pretty optimistic about the product.

Below are the reviews.

Alternative AKASO Brave Cameras To Consider

If you want alternatives to the AKASO Brave 7 LE Camera, I suggest you go for either of the below-mentioned alternatives. These three cameras are unique, depending on what you prefer.

  1. Akaso Brave 7 (Best Value Akaso Action Camera)
IMG_262

The Akaso Brave 7 establishes that professional-quality photos and films don’t require a GoPro. This action camera will record experiences of all sizes due to its cutting-edge technological capabilities, like voice control, dual-screen control, and image stabilization. (source)

With various case accessories, you can use the camera when surfing, scuba diving, or bombing hills on your next powder day.

You can use the remote control with the camera or voice to pause and resume recording. We adore hands-free functions on action cameras, and the additional options provided by the Brave 7 let you start filming without having to pick up the camera with one hand.

2. AKASO EK7000 (Cheapest Akaso Action Camera)

The cost of getting the shot is not prohibitive. While the video and photos on this camera may not be the most outstanding quality, not everyone needs 45 frames per second of photographs of their next beach days. The EK7000 provides more than enough value for casual adventurers to document our following holidays. (source)

There are still many tools included with this basic camera. When it’s time for a selfie, you can connect the camera to a helmet, tripod, beach chair, or anything else around using the several attachments that come with the gadget.

It even has a simple remote control that lets you take hands-free pictures and start videos remotely. Although not the most cutting-edge camera available, this one is among the least expensive and provides value for your money.

3. AKASO V50 Elite (Best Overall Akaso Camera)

IMG_264

The AKASO V50 Elite makes several compromises compared to market-leading products. Still, it also slashes costs significantly to provide a 4K HD camera at a fraction of the cost of the competition. (source)

The camera comes with a ton of extra attachments and batteries to ensure you have everything you need to catch the shot on the first try, along with the image stabilization and easy sharing Wi-Fi capabilities you would expect from any of the best-in-class action cameras on the market.

While the video quality won’t win any prizes, it can nonetheless record a wide variety of scenes, thanks mainly to the voice control and built-in remote control.

Final Thoughts About The AKASO Brave 7 LE Camera

Action video production is a lot of fun. The possibilities for content creation are virtually endless. The Akaso Brave 7 LE is an excellent option for beginners, those wishing to move up from their smartphones, or those looking to enter the world of vlogging or video creation using an action camera.

The Akaso Brave 7 LE will more than fulfill your demands if all you want is a simple, adaptable action camera to bring on your upcoming trip or backpacking adventure.

Additionally, the Akaso Brave 7 LE puts a front-facing screen-equipped camera within reach of people on a budget, thanks to its highly reasonable price. It also functions admirably as an independent, tough, and capable action camera.

Brave 7 LE will surely be popular among vloggers, but regardless of whether you enjoy being in front of the camera, you should give this excellent bargain considerable thought.
